BROMG I’m in Fully Flared!

My buddy Bengus just noticed that my online nerd name “huphtur” is in the Fully Flared intro. I thought he was April fooling me until Dude sent me a screen grab from the YouTube clip.

huphtur flared

On the top right step at the 4:03 mark, it clearly says: HUPHTUR.

For those who haven’t seen Fully Flared yet (shame on you, you’re no real skater!) here’s the amazing intro. And also check out this interview with Ty Evans (the filmer/director of Fully Flared).

10 Things I Will Miss About S.F.

  1. The fresh air.
  2. Errrr…
  3. Yeah!

Shit, I haven’t been here long enough to realize what I’m missing. But I’m stoked to get back to LA and the warm weather!

#skate: Where Are They Now?

Almost half my life has been wasted on this thing called IRC. For you n00bz out there, IRC is the oldest and most chaotic chat network ever. It’s like walking into a super loud and packed bar. I mostly hang out in #skate (on efnet) and have seen a ton of nerd come and go. I even met some amazing #skate people in real life.

A few months ago some oldskooler joined the channel and asked where everyone was. That got me thinking, so I decided to do some research.

10 Things I Will Miss About L.A.

Tomorrow I’m moving to San Francisco. I’m excited about this, since S.F. is somewhat similar to Amsterdam: lots of hippies and flikkers. However in the four years that I’ve lived in Los Angeles, I’ve really grown to love this city. L.A. has so many pockets of awesomeness, which I know I’m gonna miss. Here’s some of them:

  1. My homies.
  2. My apartment. A buddy of mine is taking over, and he promises he’s gonna start his own Rossmore and Clinton Flickr set.
  3. Larchmont Blvd, where there’s always some celebs to be seen. Last star sighting: Wolowitz from The Big Bang Theory!
  4. Getting yelled at; “Get on the sidewalk!” by clueless motorists.
  5. Jessica Holmes, one of the the KTLA5 Morning Show hosts, who looks SO hot in HD.
  6. The weather. It’s always sunny in So-Cal. It never rains. Seriously.
  7. Not sitting in traffic. Yes, that sounds weird, but I got carpool stickers on my battery car and nothing is more satisfying than to zip past people stuck in traffic.
  8. Orange20.
  9. Scoops.
  10. Talking skate industry shit with Tony over at The Hundreds (He’s moving to SF as well, so I guess there’s only nine things on this list).

Mike Matz Employee Spotlight

Dude and his slurfboard

Mike Matz, better known to The Hot Crew as Dude, was a brogrammer at Sole Technology from April 2003 to early 2006. He’s best known for his extreme wakeboarding stunts, profuse sweating and building a cutting edge Web framework called Dudepress. He’s also one of the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet. The following interview was scheduled to appear in the company’s employee newsletter, Sole Power, but Dude peaced out back to his old job at 2Advanced so it never got printed. Read on for the lowdown.

All we need now is a John Brown come back

How Would You Flush This Toilet?

So I’m talking to this girl from work and she informs me that she flushes the toilet with her feet. Since I never heard of such a absurdity, I immediately started making fun of her. However, after some investigating, it looks like this foot flushing thing is bigger than I thought.

Obviously the main reason for this odd behaviour is the fear of germs, but we all know that this is bullshit. More interestingly, there are articles on how to make your own foot flusher and there’s a whole industry out there selling special Foot Flushers.

Time for a quick online poll…

Toilet

How would you flush this toilet? With your hands or with your feet? And why? Also please state if you are male or female and if you’re American, Eurotrash or otherwise.

Social media turned me into a hermit

Dudes and dudettes, what’s up with all the social media stuff? I’m not hating but I’m just trying to make sense of all this shit. I mean, you got twitters, facebooks, linkedin and other crap. Is any of this shit useful? I read a ton of blogs on web marketing and crap like that and they seem to be backing all this stuff and they claim if you don’t participate you’ll miss the boat. The boat to what? I haven’t met a person yet that said to me “dude, I got this sick job through my Linked In profile” or “I got the best info about that rash through a twitter feed”. C’mon, any one got opinion? Here’s one on Linked In.

Quotes for dayz

I’m not sure if this was supposed to be put out for public display. Not passing judgement here homies.
