Johan Museeuw Compares “The Burn” to an Orgasm

by huphtur

Holland Sport is a Dutch TV program hosted by Wilfried de Jong, a very well respected journalist, theatre producer, actor and author. He recently wrote “De man en zijn fiets” (The man and his bike), a book filled with cycling stories he wrote for assorted publications.

Yes, that’s Wilfried naked on the cover.

Occasionally the TV show posts clips on their YouTube channel. Last week they posted an amazing interview with Johan Museeuw, 3x winner of the Ronde Van Vlaanderen and a plethora of other monumental bike races.

In this particular clip, he bikes up De Muur on an ordinary city bike and then confesses in church that “The Burn” (Lactic Acidosis) is similar to an orgasm (!). The clip is in Dutch and Flemish so on a rainy day (after a disappointing race) I decided to try my hands on YouTube captions and transcribed the clip in English. Check the video below and watch Museeuw talk about orgasms (make sure that Closed Captioning is turned on when the video is playing).

Side note: Even though Flemish is very similar to Dutch it’s still somewhat hard to understand even for Dutch people. That’s why the TV show has Dutch subtitles whenever Museeuw talks. There’s 1 instance in the clip where I have no idea what he says, so if any Flemish readers know what he says at 0:42 please let me know and I will add it to the subtitles.

The Frankie Hill Documentary

by huphtur

Nate Sherwood, that crazy pressure flipping skate nerd, put together a really cool documentary about Frankie Hill the legendary skater from Santa Barbara.

Frankie talks about how it all started for him, how he got on Powell-Peralta, his famous skate spots, how his knee blew out and what his plans are for the future. Oh, and he also fries some bacon.

Although the documentary is very low quality, combined with Nate’s dyslexia (which makes for some funny titles), it features some solid interviews with skaters such as Pat Duffy, Guy “you know what I mean” Mariano, Lance Conklin and others. The rawness of it all makes for the perfect documentary about Frankie Hill.

All 10 parts (+ intro) can be found on Nate’s YouTube channel which I compiled in a handy playlist. Please leave a comment on Nate’s channel, he deserves all the credit.

Tribute to Kenny van Hummel

by huphtur

Last Saturday I went on a 60 mile bike ride with a bunch of cycling nerds from SF. We rode all over Marin County and even climbed up to a 2000 foot mountain. Sure, most cyclists would classify this as a hill, but remember I’m from The Netherlands, the highest point in my country is 1059 feet.

On the decent we cruised over some rolling hills with the most amazing views ever. We were basically biking above the clouds. Never seen anything like it. I stopped to take some pictures and absorb the panorama. Unfortunately, this made me lose contact with the group and I ended up biking the last 15 miles home all alone. It was my personal tribute to Kenny van Hummel.

Did you hear?

Michael Jackson is dead. This past weekend friends and I discussed how awesome it would be if MIchael’s death was faked. We started going through good reasons for faking his death:
1) Sell a fuck load of music (have you heard/seen how much music he has been selling?)
2) What a spectacle it would be if he were to shoot his hand up into the air from the coffin and a spot light beamed onto his beaded glove. People would lose their shit.
3) It would go down as the biggest event/hoax in pop history. It would be the “ender” of all celebrity promotions.
4) Think you are over all the coverage of MJ’s death? Imagine if he faked it. Probably would be in the news for a good 10 months straight, regardless if Korea fires scuds at Hawaii and Japan.
5) Michael could name his price for interviews and wipe out any debt.

Got any other good reasons for faking his death? (Death is sad and MJ’s death is sad but this is just a blog and means nothing. Smile a little)

Dutch Idioms Translated Into English

by huphtur

I started a little experiment on Twitter called “Dutch Idioms“. Every work day I will tweet a Dutch idiom translated (rather literally) into English. Follow it and get ready for some funny/weird sayings. And see if you can figure out the English equivalent!

What the F#CK?

by Crza

Man, I can’t believe we are still running this shit right here? What have you been doing lately? I’ll let you know what I’ve been doing…straight fucking grinding. I don’t think I’ve hustled like this in a long time. Anyway enough about me what shows have you been watching? I’m watching the following: Ice Road Truckers and Expedition Africa all on the History Channel. First of all, those history channel muthafukas need to shrink that logo down a bit. It’s so big and takes up a good portion of my screen while I’m watching the show. I know I’m watching it on the History Channel, I don’t need to be reminded the entire time. Anybody take a branding class? Fuck. Not to mention they have this 1990′s tech-like graphic bar that tells me about some other show coming up next. I don’t give a fuck about the other show, I’m watching this one and you are blocking more of the screen. Between the gigantic logo and this Flash 3 banner I can’t see the show. If you haven’t seen any of the two shows I mentioned you need to check them out regardless of the branding cluster fuck. Now lets move onto Ice Truckers. Ice Truckers is about these insane dudes and one dudette that drive huge big rigs on the most deadliest road in the united states. I’m talking, ice, snow and other truckers all doped up on NoDoze. The show is crazy and stressful but awesome to watch. Expedition Africa is about these Type A-Alpha outdoor types retracing Dr. Livingstons’s expedition through Africa. The social dynamic is amazing and worth watching. Got any thoughts on the shows or have a show we should be watching? If you are still out there let’s discuss. (sound of cricketts)

The OC Fixed T-Shirt

by huphtur

This is my feeble attempt at creating a shirt for the OC Fixed scene.

It’s based on that awesome/awful TV show “The OC”. Just like the show there’s tons of drama on the OC Fixed forum so I figured this design would be appropriate.

The shirt is printed with some Eco friendly water based ink on American Apparel shirts (#2001) and comes in sizes M, L and XL.

I’m selling these for only $10. Shipping is $5. Leave a note on the PayPal order if you want to pick up the shirt at my house or on a ride, and I will reimburse the $5 shipping. Sorry NO international shipping.

Shirt is kinda limited edition. So hurry up and buy before they are gone!

I’m voting Republican, like totally

by Crza

You should vote Republican too. Fuck it, it might be awesome to see this whole shit storm we are in turn into some major shit hurricane. Just think how rad it would be to say that our vice president is some thing out of a bad “Disney Movie”. Besides, I’m over the environment, that shit is so 2007. I’m also into watching all the war footage on Fox and seeing things blow up from the safety of my home (which was bought through the awesomeness of deregulation).
I’m also super excited for the fact that Palin will be the next president in probably less than 2 years.

Instead of looking at the facts I’m voting based on my gut feeling.

Lessons Learneded’

Fucking Hackz

Man I can’t believe my shit got hacked. I thought that only happened in the movies or to big corpo types. I thought some thing might go down when Bobby told me his site got hacked and then Rob Brink said his also got hacked. I then decided to look at my site and I noticed some strange crap popping up. It was lame and what was even more lame is that my images got jacked. I was able to save the site and copy-paste the jacked code with the proper code. Now when I see those WP updates I’ll be sure to jump on it. Oh and learned to run more back ups. I hate the internet (except for the slap message boards..of course)
