That’s how I use to order coffe in NY. “Gimme a regaler”, which meant a regular coffee. You might be asking what the hell is a regualr coffee. Well smart ass it’s coffee with milk and typically 2 sugars. To top it off they put the milk in for you and the sugar and only charge you a buck or a buck-fifty. I just got back from a 5 day stay in NY. It was a biz trip but I managed to visit my bro and the new MoMa (which is amazing). I didn’t have time to make calls and visit the homies but I managed to throw in some karoke. Here is a list of things I don’t miss about NY.

Subway: First day back I almost got into it with a crazy dude.

Crowds: This was good and bad. It’s nice to see people on the sidewalks but there were way to many of them.

Smell that? Holy fuck dude I forgot what sweet-metal-juice smelled like

Weather: I must of forgot that I lived through 30+ Fall/Winters in NY. I only packed t’s and flip-flops (I’m kidding about the flip flops)

Not bad for a HC list considering we get vicious some times. I tell you this though, I missed a lot of things about NY. I miss all the “mom and pop” operations. I miss getting a egg and cheese and large coffee for $2.00. I miss walking. I miss the accessibility of the entire city. I miss the social interaction (even if it can get sketchy). Overall I miss NY but now that I’m back in LA, it feels good to be home.

We all know that snail mail is so pre2k, but to keep the dream alive, I always ask people to send me a postcard when they go on a trip. I used to have a wall plastered with cards at my old job, which was always fun to look at. So what a suprise when my homie Dennys Han sent me a postcard to my new job!

As you can tell the new postcard wall is a bit empty, so please mail me a postcard wherever you are/go. You will get a thank you on this blog (and all the interweb fame that goes with it).

People are asking me if we actually work, of course we f#cking work. When we aren’t playing table tennis or writing on this thing we make shit. Above are some things we made for that new Apple Store on 5th Ave. Since the store was so gnarly we decided to make some thing celebrating the gnarly-ness of that store. It’s a pattern based on NY Landmarks and Icons. See, we work…well…sort of.

My first week at Incase is over, so being the nerd that I am, here are some stats:

Average travel time to work in minutes: 15
I went from driving 2.5 hours/day to 30minutes/day. I’m gaining 10 hours/week of free time! I get home at nite and actually have time to think about what I would make for dinner if I could cook. Next week I’m ordering “The Absolute Beginner’s Cookbook“

Days I wore my AM90s: 5
Yes, I wore them to SoleTech as well, but this time I didn’t have Brink stressin out that we’re all gonna fired if we didn’t wear 00tneez.

Computers installed: 2
Everybody at Incase is running Mac OS X. However, I got me two sweet Dells! I installed Windoze on one and Ubuntu + LAMP on the other. Combined they are half the price of the laptop that Metzger got.

Times I played ping pong: 2
They take their ping pong a little too serious over at Incase (some dude got $200 paddles), and I kinda suck at it, so I’m gonna try to get them to buy a foosball table.

Saunas in the office: 1
I kid you not, there’s a freaking sauna in the bathroom!

Money spent on lunch: 0
Remember this ordeal? No more! Everyday we get free lunch and eat at a big table like one big happy family.

TPS reports filled out: 0

So with this post, I’de like to thank Metzger for gettin me out of the skate indu$try and giving me an opportunity to work for such a cool company. I’m looking forward to next week and the week after next and then next after next and next… Thanks homie!

After workin at Sole Technology for what seems like a gabillion years, I have accepted a new job as Web Nerd at Incase Designs. I’m extremely excited about this, because not only will I be producing all their sites, but will also be doing a lot of marketing and web strategy. Plus I will be workin with Craig Metzger and it’s only 15 minutes from my house.

I’ve decided to take thehotcrew.com with me since Metzger was the one that came up with the name anyways. No idea what we’re gonna do with it, but if you’re looking for the The in-house web department of Sole Technology, Inc., check out The Colab. For now I’m going on a small vacation to check out my parents new crib in Spain.

Fun fact: I’ve always said if Koston would leave éS, I would leave. An hour after I put in my resignation letter a press release was sent out that Koston quit. And on May 1st, the day I start at Incase, Koston is officially with his new sponsor.
