Finger Fun
June 18th, 2008 by huphtur under FAIL, bikesMy buddy Nic was in town this weekend to look for an apartment since he will be joining Incase soon.
Naturally I took him out for a bike ride. I showed him a bunch of skate spots in Orange and other points of interests.
We’re cruising around Orange High School and I notice a little shortcut in between some bars. I accelerate a bit… and all of sudden I’m flying through the air and crash hard on the ground.

I guess didn’t see the bar at the other end.
First reaction was to immediately check my bike to see if any damage was done. But to my surprise, it only had a small little scruff mark on the head tube.

Second reaction was to check for any body damage. Nothing major, except a pain in my left middle finger. I decided to just RICE it for the remainder of the weekend.
When I got to work on Monday my finger was pretty swollen and started to turn a little blue. On the advice of one my my co-workers I decided to get some X-Rays taken at a local hospital.

Apparently I have two tiny little fractures in my finger. The doctor taped up my finger in a nice splint and I have to go see some specialist next week.
No biking for me for a while.
Side note: When I went to the hospital, the nurse checked my pulse a couple times and asked if I was an athlete. Resting heart rate for a guy my age is around 70-80 beats per minute. Turns out my heart beats at 50 BPM.

Apple, I’ve been on a ride with someone when they ran into one of those poles. Not so good.
Broke my hand last year (and my face) and was riding a bike with drop bars w/in a couple weeks. Not flat bars, though, ’cause they hurt too much.
Hope you get back to it soon.

middle finger xray is solid gold.
i went to the dentist for the first time in 11 years and they also took my blood pressure, and had the same reaction from the hygienist…not too shabby for a couple of old men.
get well soon

Nic- When you move here, I’ll take you on some trails for some dirt mashing. Email me homie when you get settled

Crza: word man, I’m not very experienced at mashing the dirts but I love me some great outdoors. I might need to hit you up for good hiking spots as well.
Huph: get that finger healed so you can help me move my grand piano!

That x-ray pic is making me piss my pants laughing!
What is it with injured fingers? I got a nasty cat bite last month and have no feeling in my thumb. My hand splint was awesomer than yours though.
