Made In China

I heard about this interesting book today on the radio entitled “Made in China”: One Family’s True Life Adventure in the Global Economy. The book chronicles this families choice of not to use anything made in China for a full year. The book covers the struggle to pull this off and what alternatives they came up with (some times no alternative). I thought the experiment was an interesting one and probably impossible to pull off now-a-days.

Just make it yourself. Try reducing, re-using, and recycling. Sure, other countries cost more to buy from but you’re probably better off in the long run since it’ll last many times longer. 99% of stuff from China is plastic junk. The other 1% is lead.
If you want more stuff made in the USA, then tell the people in Detroit to get back to work!
