I’m not hatin on the phone, its dope. I prolly end up gettin one (for cheap, cuz I “work for apple”). It’s just that the hype for it, is too much. It’s on every damn internet blog and every news station etc etc. It’s like the end of the world as we know it (Crza’s favorite song). I’m too “sober” to get hyped up about this shit. Must be the Dutch in me.
I think we’ll all wait for the second generation. You know it’s either going to be to hot to have in your pocket, the battery will last 4 phone calls, 2 texts and 4 songs before needing to be recharged. The screen will burn out starting in the lower center of the screen. Either way it’s a cool idea, hopefully it works well.
I’m up in the air about the sales of this thing really. $400 for 4gig, $600 for 8gig!?! That’s a freakin mini, tripled in price. Let me break down why I think it will not sell well:
By the time we can buy it (June?! WTF?) it’ll be out of our consciousness.
It’s only on Cingular (which I have so that’s cool for me, I’m due for an upgrade)
It only has EDGE data speeds!! That shit was slow last year. They really should have put at least UMTS (3G) on that shit, if not HSDPA. They’re limiting data download speeds to 100-150k/sec. max! UMTS with HSDPA coulda topped 1meg/sec.
The core “Smartphone” & PDA users will still be using Treos, Crackberries, or Windows Mobile phones. They all are used to using each software setups. The users are already into their respective OS’s, and will be hard to change them from those systems.
Apple seems to be aiming this phone at people who buy iPods. But to me, the majority of iPod owners are using PC’s now. Then they go and put OSX on it to confuse them more. Apple better have the BEST designed, most intuitive user experience/interface ever developed to get the “average” iPod user used to using a smartphone, much less one with an operating system that is different from their native Windows world.
Sorry for the rambling, just my thoughts as a fan of Smartphones & PDA’s. But I would be SO willing to get one if they were cheaper.
ps-And no expandable memory? I got a 2gig miniSD card for $75 a year ago. If they could have offered expandable memory to make up for the lackluster (compared to a 60 or 80gig iPod) storage, they would do a lot better.
Oh shit, Tony must be freaking. Back to the phone case game again. I’m sure you dudes already have a case headed to the factory to be built. Mad quick over there. (Nic, I seriously laughed so hard I spit on my computer). On a side note did you guys see that MTV commercial on Skate Daily?
