Great, more shoes
May 8th, 2006 by Crza under archive, skateboarding, sneakers, soccerPlease, buy skate shoes from companies that have skateboarding roots. If you want soccer shoes then buy from a company that makes great soccer shoes. Skateboarding makes me ill some times.

hahaha. Is this the part where I say “bring it” or I challenge you and your skate crew to a joust in the local ditch (Daggers forever!). I’m not hating and in reality I really don’t care who makes skate shoes. Skateboarding is already blown out so more the merrier at this point.

The best part about people like adidas’ and other “non” skate shoes (besides the wonderful classic Vans) is that they are not 10 inches thick and feel like boots. I understand the logic of making more durable skate shoes like Etnies, DC, and all that - but to me, an old schooler, they feel like boots and look like some raver gear. Maybe they last longer, maybe they are made in some secret testing lab in the heart of California, whatever- they are too big and bloated.

I agree most skate shoes from most skate companies blow. Each brand though has a shoe that’s on a diet. The shoe debate can go on forever. I’m to old to really care anymore but I want kids to support the brands that have been in skating through all of it…not just when the gettin’ is good.

I remember propositioning *all* the SK8 companies for sponsorship of a really big contest. All the “core” dudes were asking questions like they were right out of Harvard Business School, while Adidas agreed to to a ~$ 50K sponsorship within the first 15 minutes of our meeting. ‘Core, indeed.

Krapster: What’s 50K for a $600MLN company? You should have asked 100K. Silly you.

The best skateshoe company clears about 120 million..if they are lucky. Soccer, b-ball and “lifestyle” pay the bills son. You should of asked for 100k.
